How to Make a Cheap Spa Basket for a Teen Girl Birthday Gift
Like everyone else these days, our family is having to watch costs. And when my teen daughter announced that she had a birthday to attend and needed a nice gift for a teen girl, we turned to our favorite dollar store for some ideas.
Dollar stores are a great resource for pulling together nice but cheap gift baskets for every occasion. Our local Dollar tree had just about everything my daughter and I needed to assemble a nice looking “teen spa basket” for around $7. Here’s what we did, perhaps this idea will work for you as well.
- Find a suitable container To hold a collection of spa supplies, a nice cosmetic tote will do the job. My daughter assembled her teen spa gift basket using a cosmetic bag in a zebra print; another good option would have a mid sized colorful plastic organizational tote.
- Select an nice assortment of beauty items Dollar Tree is big on beauty products such as pedicure kits, boxed nail file sets, exfoliating gloves, head wraps, scrubbies, facial scrubbing pads, cosmetic foams, back brushes, hair brushes, and other teen beauty aids. Since we set a $7 limit on creating this teen spa basket, we kept our choice down to three beauty items to tuck inside of the tote.
- Creams, washes, and lotions Dollar stores also carry an amazing selection of body care products such as lotions, bath salts, body mists, body butters and bath oils. To make our basket, we settled on some vanilla scented bath washes and a raspberry scented bath fizzer which we felt had the best fragrance.
- Aromatherapy candle Wrapping up the contents of this spa basket was a vanilla scented candle. An aromatherapy candle makes a nice addition to a spa gift basket.
To assemble the teen spa basket so that it’s suitable for gift giving, some colorful filler paper or crumpled tissue paper should be tucked into the bottom half of the storage container or tote. The spa products can then be arranged on top of the filler paper in a way that looks balanced. You can decorate the tote by tying a pretty wire-edged crafting ribbon around the midpoint and then finishing up with a nice bow.
